Fashion has always been a powerful instrument to affirm fundamental freedoms such as the freedom of expression and artistic creativity. A culture, a book, a natural element, symbols, a political or social event, a painting, a sculpture or an architectonical element inspire fashion design and can lead fashion to become both art and a way of affirming fundamental rights, in some cases, against oppression, manipulation or discrimination.
